The Watcher’s Replacement?

After the fall of the Watchers, the Sethites seemed to have “taken their place,” in a way. They began to worship God just like the choir of angels once did! 21 Because of their holiness, and piety, the Sethites could have even been known, by some, as the “sons of God” (i.e. “sons of the Elohim”) - the same as once given to these Watchers! 22 They truly acted angelic.

Interestingly enough, we’ll soon see that Watchers and Sethites both may have been known as “sons of God” later on, throughout the centuries. This could have easily left room for confusion, on just “who was who,” here. Why is this important? According to the Jerusalem Bible, for example: “Later Judaism and almost all the earliest ecclesiastical writers identify the ‘sons of God’ with the fallen angels; but from the 4th century onwards, as the idea of angelic natures becomes less material , the Fathers commonly take that sons of God to be Seth’s descendants…” 23

We might wonder why, today, so many people might find the stories of terrestrial angels - and those breeding with mortal women - fantastic. So many, today, probably don’t even believe in angels! Could this be by design, over the years? And; why ? Of course, the most correct answer to this is: exposure ! As we’ll see, soon enough, those who follow Mystery Babylon would certainly not want the real story of Cain and these fallen angels to be known… all of this sheds too much light on their plans. Although all of this might be passed off as fantasy, today, that doesn’t mean all of this didn’t happen.

Interestingly enough, the Old Testament never really referred to these sons of God as human beings at all - always as angels . 24 And, in Daniel 3:25, for example, we recall a famous story: king Nebuchadnezzar commanded to have three Israelites thrown into a huge furnace of fire. After they did, these people were never burned; not even close. They were actually walking around in the flames, unscathed. As Nebuchadnezzar looked into the flames, he even saw a fourth figure (i.e. an angel) inside the fire, with them. After he saw this, he exclaimed: “the form of the forth is like the son of God .”

Any of those, today, who quickly might insist on these sons of God as being only righteous men may indeed be trying to decipher meanings of the Biblical text which really are not there. Human beings and angels both could have shared this honor; but - in the earliest parts of the Bible - this title was reserved only for angels. More on all of this, later .
